Yankees Call Up Gleyber Torres, Set To Make Debut On Sunday

The time has finally arrived. Yankees top prospect Gleyber Torres has been called up to the major leagues and will make his debut on Sunday.

Rejoice Yankees fans. The time has come that you have all been waiting for, Gleyber Torres has been called up to the Bronx and will be making his major league debut on Sunday.

This is a move that many fans have been clamoring for, for over a year now and it is finally happening.

Torres ranks as the best prospect in a very deep Yankees farm system as well as ranking as the fifth best prospect in the entirety of MLB. He was originally a shortstop when the Yankees acquired him from Chicago, but he has now transitioned into a second and third baseman.

With New York having significant struggles at second base this season with Tyler Wade and Neil Walker, there is hope that Torres will be able to live up to his big-time potential and become another huge piece of that Yankees lineup.

In 13 games at Triple-A this season, Torres is slashing .370/.415/.543 with a home run and 11 RBIs. However, we still have to see if these numbers will be able to translate well against major league pitching.

While Torres surely has the potential to be a game-changing bat in the Yankees lineup, he should not be counted on as one just yet. Fans must remember that he is still only 21 years old and will be facing major league talent for the first time, there is a good possibility he struggles in the beginning.

Regardless of how Torres produces in his first big appearance, the future is certainly now for the Yankees and the Bronx will be pumping for Torres’ debut on Sunday afternoon in the series finale against the Blue Jays.
