Report: Yankees “Heavy in the Mix” for J.A Happ; Deal Likely Coming Soon

Less than 24 hours after acquiring Zach Britton from the Orioles, the Yankees may be on the verge of yet another significant trade. Mark Feinsand of MLB.com along with Andy Martino of SNY have both reported that the Bombers are working on a deal for J.A Happ of the Toronto Blue Jays.

With 2018 being the final year of a three-year contract he signed back in 2015, Happ won’t find the Blue Jays a hefty package of top prospects, especially considering a report stating their price for the left-hander has come down in recent days.

In 20 starts this season, Happ has posted a 4.18 ERA/3.84 FIP in 114 innings while putting up a very solid 10.26 K/9.

UNHINGED X CHAMPION

However, the real eye-catcher with Happ’s resume is his numbers against the Red Sox. In two starts this season, he has pitched to a 0.84 ERA against Boston, along with a 2.98-lifetime mark versus the club. And with ten games left between the two division foes, if the Yankees do acquire the southpaw, it’s almost certain he’d get a start.

Although nothing is said to be close, the Blue Jays are reportedly looking to move Happ soon, and the Yankees have been “heavy in the mix”. Stay tuned.
