3 Yankees Who Were Snubbed From The All Star Game

While the Yankees are represented with three players in the all-star game, there are still three more players that deserved to play in Cleveland next week.

The All-Star starters and backups were announced the other day and three Yankees made the team. D.J. Lemahieu, Gary Sanchez and Aroldis Chapman. All of these guys deserved it, but there are three players on the Yankees that didn’t get in even as reserves. Here are three Yankee players that got all-star snubbed.

Gleyber Torres

Gleyber Torres burst on the scene last year, his rookie year, quickly showing Yankee how good he was. Last season he slashed .271/.340/.480 while hitting 24 bombs and driving in 77 runs. Some second-year players go into a sophomore slump, but Gleyber has been a lot better this year. As of the London series, Gleyber is slashing .295/.365/.548 while hitting 19 bombs and driving in 47 runs. Gleyber Torres has been one of the best second basemen in the AL this year and deserves to be in the all-star game.

Luke Voit

No one expected Luke Voit to do what he did for the Yankees last year. After being sent down after being traded Luke Voit became a spark plug for the Yankees. In 39 Games with the Yankees last year, Voit slashed .333/.405/.689 while hitting 14 bombs and driving in 33 runs. Some fans were thinking “would he be able to keep that up during a long season?”

Yankees: Why The Opener May Not Be A Bad Idea

Luke Voit has shown us that he is not a fluke. In 78 games this year, Luke is slashing .280/.393/.509 while hitting 17 bombs and driving in 50 runs. Do you mean to tell me Vogelbach got in over Voit? I know that each team needs to have one all-star but come on man.

Adam Ottavino

I wrote an article on why the Yankees needed to sign Otto in the offseason. They did almost two weeks after the article. Otto has been almost automatic all season. As of tonight’s loss, the right-hander is 3-3 with a 1.91 ERA. He has been the guy Boone uses to get out of big spots and it is a crime that he isn’t in the all-star game.
