With the rosters expanding to a full-time 26 players, the Yankees will have one more spot to play with. That spot will feature heavy competition throughout the spring between some big names trying to keep their game in the big leagues.
Assuming the Yankees keep a four-man bench, the final spot will get a little thin. The Yankees will likely keep Miguel Andujar, Mike Tauchman and a backup catcher—likely Kyle Higashioka. This means the final spot will be a battle between a number of players but three in specific.
That likely comes down to outfielder Clint Frazier, first baseman Mike Ford and infielder Tyler Wade. Wade gives them the most speed and versatility. Ford gives them a power bat from the left side while Frazier has the highest ceiling among all three of them. It will be interesting to see who lands that final roster spot.
